The timing of the newsletter’s launch coincides with Sanctuary Evanston’s first anniversary. The first gathering was held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2025. We are so inspired by how many people have joined together to support this community. What started as a small group of people around a table has grown to over 1200 people strong. We keep us safe.

A dedicated volunteer put together a GoFundMe page for local individuals impacted by recent federal actions. Take a look at this list to learn more about their stories and donate if you can – every dollar helps.
This GoFundMe (not included on the above list) supports a local family that just encountered a significant setback in court this week.

A Cold and Snowy Vigil
Sanctuary Evanston, together with Evanston Latinos and Pink Poster Club, held a vigil on Sunday, Jan. 25, to honor those who were murdered and the many more who are suffering in Minnesota. We are grateful to all of you who attended, lit a candle, joined in with the singing, or just kept them in your thoughts. Gathering together doesn’t right the wrongs that are being carried out, but it does provide solidarity, encouragement and a sense of morale. Keep your eyes open for more opportunities to gather, both in Evanston and in Chicago.

Santuario Evanston, junto con Evanston Latinos y Pink Poster Club, celebró una vigilia el domingo 25 de enero, para honrar a las personas que fueron asesinadas y a muchos más que han sufrido en Minnesota. Agradecemos a todos las personas que asistieron al evento, encendieron una vela, se unieron al canto o simplemente mantuvieron a nuestros compañeros presentes en sus pensamientos. El acto de reunirnos no corrige las injusticias que se están cometiendo, pero sí brinda la solidaridad, el aliento y un sentido de unidad a la gente. Manténgase atento a futuras oportunidades para reunirse, tanto en Evanston como en Chicago.
